Honeywell HL12CESWW

I really LOVE MY GIFTED HONEYWELL!!!!!! It is really easy to use and very powerful cooling the house and pulling hot air out. I really love the reusable air filters that I clean and don't have to replace. I would totally recommend this product and others made by Honeywell because the qualities bar none. Bar raiser type products that are my go to first.

The unit performs as expected and the quality is good. Very simple use. However, I was surprised that the baffle that goes in the window was sized at 26â€ and 36â€ to 52â€. I built my house 7 years ago and put in standard size double hung windows. A size required by the building code. They have an interior dimension of 34â€. I had to cut the baffle shorter on my table saw to fit the interior dimension of the window. It did not just fit in like the video shows. Other than that the unit is great.

Very Satisfied

I bought 2 of these, 14,000 BTU and 10,000 BTU for a 2-bedroom apartment with no air flow and couldn't be happier. They are quiet, efficient at cooling, and provide great airflow with just the fan on. I was most concerned about noise and am happy that they are so quiet. I am very pleased with my purchase and they will make my summer in NYC so much better.

LOVE mynew AC!

The unit blows really cold air and is very easily comparable to my 15,000 BTU window AC by another manufacturer. The self-opening vent is a great feature so when the AC is not running, air from the outside won't go through the hose and feed back into the home. The operation is simple. The self-evaporation feature is great for me. It rolls easily. I'm putting this unit in my barn which is not insulated. At the most, I just want the moisture taken out of the air and perhaps the temp to come down a bit. This unit does that just fine. And I'm venting this unit in the crawl space on the barn, to the carport under the floor so I don't even need a window. The equipment that came with the unit is perfect for me to mount to the floor. I'll just use a screen to make sure to keep out any critters. Very satisfied!

What about ventilation?

Portable ACs use either a single hose or dual hose design. In cooling mode, single hose PACs remove hot air from the room, and then expel the hot air out the one hose. In cooling mode, dual hose PACs bring in air from outside through one hose, and expels warm air outside through the second hose. In both cases cold air in cooling mode flows through the unit's vents into the room.

Are there certain types of windows that are not suitable for PACs?

Casement windows are quite unique in design and functionality so PACs do not have window kits that can completely cover the gap for these types of specialty windows.

Can I leave the window screen in during installation?

The screen may not interfere with installation, but for better releasing of hot air out the window, it is better to remove the screen.

How do I know how many BTUs are required to cool my space?

A BTU (British Thermal Unit) is a standard unit of energy that measures the amount of heat per hour an air conditioner removes from a room. The larger the room, the higher the BTU requirement. Below, are some general guidelines. However other factors – such as the number of open doorways, a south-facing window with continuous sunlight, or a room with high occupancy – can require a unit with a higher BTU rating than the average guidelines.
